Questions &
Answers

Do I need any previous plastering experience?

Not at all. Our courses are designed for complete beginners as well as those who have some DIY experience and want to improve their skills. We'll guide you through every stage of the plastering process in a friendly, hands-on environment, so no previous knowledge is required.

What do I need to bring?

Just yourself and suitable clothing. We provide all of the professional tools, materials and equipment you'll need throughout your course. At Norfolk Plastering Academy, we use high-quality Refina and Marshalltown tools, so you'll learn using the same equipment trusted by professional plasterers. If you already own a trowel, feel free to bring it along. Tea, coffee and refreshments are also available throughout the day.

Will I be able to plaster after completing the course?

Our courses are designed to give you a solid understanding of modern plastering techniques and plenty of practical experience. By the end of your training, you'll have the confidence to tackle your own plastering projects. Becoming a professional plasterer takes time and practice, but you'll leave with the knowledge and skills needed to continue improving and producing excellent results.

What if I need help after the course?

Learning doesn't stop when your course finishes. If you have questions once you're back at home, we're happy to offer advice and guidance by phone or email.

What's the difference between your 2-day, 5-day and 10-day courses?

Our 2-Day Introduction Course is ideal for beginners or DIY enthusiasts. You'll learn the fundamentals, including boarding, beading, patch repairs and skimming.

Our 5-Day Course builds on these skills by introducing dot and dab plasterboarding plus considerably more trowel time to improve your confidence.

Our 10-Day Course includes everything from the 5-day course, with additional hands-on practice and finishing techniques, allowing you to develop a much higher standard of workmanship and confidence before leaving.

How many students are on each course?

We believe smaller groups provide the best learning experience. That's why every course is limited to a maximum of four students. This ensures everyone receives plenty of one-to-one tuition, individual feedback and hands-on support throughout the course.

How often do you run courses?

We run both weekday and weekend courses throughout the year. Course dates are regularly updated on our website amd socials but if you can't find a suitable date, simply get in touch and we'll do our best to arrange one that works for you.

How do I book a course?

Booking couldn't be easier. Simply visit our website to view available course dates and fill in the form with your chosen date, we will get in contact to book your place. If you'd rather speak to us first, you're welcome to call or email us and we'll be happy to answer any questions before you book.

Are all tools and materials included?

Yes. Every student is provided with all the professional tools, equipment and materials required for the duration of the course, so there's no need to purchase anything beforehand.

What should I wear?

Plastering can be messy, so we recommend wearing old clothes or overalls and sturdy footwear. We also advise bringing clothing that you're comfortable working in for the full day.

Can I buy the tools used on the course?

Yes. If you've enjoyed using the equipment during your training, we'll happily recommend the tools we use professionally and advise you where to purchase them. We're always happy to help you choose the right equipment to get started. We do keep stock for you to buy at the end of the course.

Do I have to clean down or remove my work at the end of the course?

No. Your time at Norfolk Plastering Academy is focused on learning and improving your skills. We'll take care of the clean-up and preparation, allowing you to make the most of every minute of practical training.
